Description

Weems & Plath Parallel Ruler #140.
Two clear plastic rulers with numerical increments marked in black. The two rulers are aligned parallel to each other and are connected by two silver metal arms. Each ruler has a small metal knob handle. Two cork circles on underside of each ruler.

Used to plot direction on a chart, this ruler is designed so that when the edges move apart, they remain parallel to each other. The ruler is lined up between two points, and then each edge is moved alternately across the chart. By alternating which edge is moved, the angle of the ruler is maintained until the compass rose is reached. On the compass rose, the direction between the two points can be determined.
