Description

Pair of large scallop shells with deep ridges. Exterior dark purple to red to pale orange. Covered in white worm tubing. Interior orange and dark purple.

Growing to lengths of 2.5” to 6”, the Lion’s Paw is the largest scallop species of the Western Atlantic Ocean. Lion’s Paw scallops are epibenthic, meaning they live on the bottom sediments of the ocean floor. This species of scallop lives at depths of 30-160 feet, and can be found along the Atlantic coast from North Carolina to Brazil.
